This time in fiapre has been probably the most up and down time of my mission and I have had some truly heartfelt talks with heavenly father and everytime he sends, peace, warmth and assurance everytime. oh and I love the thought mom! that's something I have thought a little bit about when I read it in a letter from one of my friends on mission and its so true. everytime we feel tired and feel like giving up we need to think of all the savior went through for us and the sacrifice that was. As for the Skype stuff I hope I can Skype. im planning on it so what time do u guys start church? then well figure it out from there.
As for midweek activities we don't have them anymore cause no one ever came... there is not a font here so everytime we have a baptism we have to travel to nkwabeng with everyone in taxis so its a huge pain and expensive but its gotta be done that way till we get bigger and are worthy of our own font. yes we set up p day activities as a zone. haha I like ur advice for me to stay looking nice, mom. who do I need to look nice for? haha jk I know of course I am! my sandals are doing well cause we ride bikes now. for lunch since our area is so freakin tiny we just come back and prepare something NICE!
our invs are doing well and as of now Kwame and Emmanuel are really really doing well and they'll get b dates very soon and they r definitely the standouts! the pics are of the falls last week with the zone and also a scorpion we found in the appt. the new area that was supposed to open up didn't this transfer so maybe next one.
ok so for the week. We are still having the treadmill effect here in fiapre where every 2 weeks it seems like we have to replenish our whole teaching pool which is easier said than done here in the village... We had a bunch of lessons planned but only a couple worked out. We saw Vivian who is still doing everything we ask her but she is still waiting for that perfect knowledge and is not leaving any room for faith! We still feel like we should keep seeing her for now though. We gave her another b date this time for may 26th so hopefully thatll get something going... We then met with gifty who still seems promising. she read the whole pamphlet and is doing well. funny story though, ha they came to church sun but saw the building and left cause they said it looked like someones house and not a church. its true, but ah!!! soooo close! she even came with her sis who we started teaching, grace. We then met with suzy and Abigail small and pounded fufu for them and enjoyed it as well! We then started L2 with obeng and idk what we r going to do with him cause hes sweet and reads and prays and everything but isn't coming to church.
Wed was pretty sweet as I was here in fiapre on splits with our dl elder chiweshe. We met with our new inv JK who called us over the other day and it was freakin powerful! he is an awesome guy a little older and has an awesome fam and holy crap if we could get them here in fiapre that would be a dream come true! We also met with yaws son Kwame who is doing terrific as I said before and well give him a b date for the end of may. wow its already May! The only thing with Kwame is that he hasn't been to church at all for a long time so hes a little hesistant and wants to take it slow and make sure hes doing the right thing.
Thursday was a challenging day full of contacting which is so difficult cause how small our area is. it cant be more than a mile by mile square... so contacting here gets really old seeing the same ppl over and over. I still have at least 2 more transfers here though... We met with suzy and Abigail and finished L3 with them. their mom said they could be baptized but she still wont let them come to church every week. We will have to wait till at least june to baptize them as well. We also saw gifty again who I already talked about and obeng as well.
Friday we met with an awesome new inv Abena who Chiweshe and me contacted the wed before. She is a single mom with 2 girls and she freakin loves us. She had no problem committing to come to church but of course she didn't come... (it would just be too easy if it were like that, right?) We still have high hope for her and her 2 girls are also awesome and really smart! We then met with Emmanuel who I told u is da bomb! he also hasn't been to church for a while but he is just diving right in! bonus is that he is friends with yaws son Kwame so they can help each other out and if all goes well be baptized on the same day. He always has tons of good q's for us so we rnt too far teaching him but its all good cause he's learning a lot. We then met with Anita who is doing great but just not ready to do anything big especially without her husband. we have high hopes for the whole fam though. we then saw yaw who is doing great and we taught him about the priesthood and he is preparing to receive it even though he cant do much.
Saturday was kinda a downer... a super long day with meetings and transfer news and stuff so we only had one lesson. We r losing elders gagne, chiweshe and turay and sisters okoro and akpan and they will be greatly missed. we were all super tight.
Sunday was awesome even though a lot of our invs failed us. why was it great u may ask? Cause pres holmes was here! haha he was super happy with what he saw and just gave us encouragement to keep it up and have fiapre in working order by the time we get transferred. soon we will call a 2nd counselor in the branch presidency and a 1st counselor for elders quorum. It was funny cause for the last few weeks we have had more non members at church than members and this week was no different. We then headed to nkwabeng for a combined baptism. We had 5 all together including one from fiapre (the other comps). We have now achieved 6 out of our goal of 43 for the quarter for the zone and we only have 2 months left! ah! if anyone can do it though we can. we r really leaving it all on the table for the lord! After everything we went to go meet with anita and lo and behold her husband Kwame was finally there! it was so awesome and we finished all of L1 and he wanted more! he's super excited to come to church and when he gets a Sunday off work him and the fam will surely be here! Well guys the work here is hard and slow and so is the progress but at least it is progress! remember us always in ur prayers as I know u do! love u all thanks so much!
