Ah another week down and another chance to hear from the ones i love! Doesnt get much better right?! ha ok so for the q's... yes im still eating alot and getting fat thank u very much! ha the temple trip never happened so who knows. our rc's are still doing pretty good. most of them dont come to church every week, but thats kinda just the way it is here, but we r trying to change that! ha our 1st and 2nd counselors only even come half the time! haha so ya thats how it is. my companion and i are doing awesome! i love that guy! ha he says he is going to come to byu for school when he gets home so im way excited for that and for u guys to meet him and stuff! so hopefully that happens :) we are good buds too. Elder Smith and Nathan are doing good. ha Elder Nathan is funny, he's determined to make elder Smith's last 6 weeks "a living hell" haha so that started today. so far its definitely going forth! haha we are doing pretty good as an apartment though.
Alright so for my week... First, dont forget my seasoning packets and rogaine please! the taco and spaghetti seasoning packets and then the dry ranch powder packets :) Alright so tuesday of course was my b day. ha just a normal day, except for wouldnt u believe it i got my packages! haha it was awesome and thank u so much! ah they r the best! Ok so at district meeting my companion and i got to instruct for my b-day present. yay... haha Elder Larsen is so thoughtful. I instructed on teaching by the spirit. Since being with Elder Evbuomwam i am really starting to get to know the scriptures so thats sweet. oh and max chaffetz isnt in the kumasi mission so that sucks :( OK so after district meeting we went and taught Aboajewah. It was good i think? haha like i have said shes a lil terd! We taught her our purpose on earth and the atonement. We also tried to get her a baptismal date but she refused for now, but she did accept baptism so we r pretty pumped about that, since thats a HUGE step! After the Okai family then called us and invited us over for fufu so we of course gladly accepted! It started pouring rain right once we finished so after waiting for a while and seeing that it was only going to get worse we decided to brave it with our one little umbrella that we had. haha we didnt get far before we saw a car stuck in a muddy ditch of raging water. We stopped to help and realized the driver was drunk. haha oh boy... after about 2 seconds we gave up on the umbrella and staying somewhat dry and clean and jumped right into the ditch. After a freakin hour we finally managed to get it out! after jacking it up and moving it forward a couple inches at a time. the casualties suffered were our clothes, elder evbuomwams shoes and our white handbooks in our pockets. haha elder evbuomwam ripped his pants right down the crotch! So yeah, good b-day! :)
For wednesday, We went and taught rhoda. she is doing awesome! even though she has been sick for the last little while we still know she will be ready to be baptized this coming sunday! We taught her all the small commandments. We then went and saw the Nigerian man and he is doing alot better. he has some clothes and stuff now and he stopped drinking and has been coming to church every week! We then contacted a bunch and some of those people we taught throughout the week.
On thursday we met with ernest, who is really really on the verge of being dropped unfortunately. The first 45min of our lesson were his q's and then the last 15 we taught him faith and repentance. We then went and saw rhoda again and finished up the commandments with tithes and offerings. We also had to hand Gloria over to the abuakwa elders becuase her uncle is still holding her hostage there. kinda depressing. We then taught a new investigator, kingsley. He is a pastor in training. the lesson was freakin 2 hrs just about thte godhead! ha he is catholic so he believes in the trinity.
Friday we then went back to kinsley and not much changed so we r just waiting for him to pray about it. We then went and saw one of iseh's friends. The lesson was ok and hopefully she will turn out to be sweet! We then went to go see aboagyewaa, and it went well. haha It is moving forward bacho bacho meinu meinu. ha We then saw richard who is a who do from sis mavis. he is an awesome guy and we have high hopes for him. we taught him lesson one up to the apostacy. He was way into it and interested.
ON saturday we finally were able to find the referral from church headquarters. Enoch. He seems pretty sweet so we have high hopes for him! Around 3 we headed to sis. herty's (aboagyewaa's mom) for a birthday surprise for me. haha All of abuakwa and asuoyeboa elders were invited and sampson from our ward who will leave on mission soon. It was a freakin feast! it was also unreal! ha there was like 10 courses and we were all stuffed! elder smith even threw up! haha We were so very grateful of course!
ON sunday elder smith and nathan had a baptism. Well two. A mom and daughter. they r pretty sweet. We then went out with our ward mission leader after church to do some finding. (a miracle in itself) ha It went pretty good and we ended up teaching a girl, mary-ann who we had contacted a few days earlier. unfortunately our WML just thought she was cute and flirted with her. so yeah... thats cool. ha Sunday was also the first day of kumasi mission! yeah party! nothin special at all, just another day. ha we will meet pres holmes on wed! and ill also get to see elder hopkins! idk if i told u but hell be in kumasi mission! im so pumped! So this week has been pretty great as u can tell. i have really seen how much im on mission for myself and how it is so very necessary for me to have these experiences and growth for me and my family in the future! i really need this foundation! let me know about the house and stuff! happy it all went well and u had some help! OK well i love u all so very much! bye bye :)
Love, Elder Slade
