ok so for ur q's: there are four areas here in sunyani Nkwabeng (4 sisters), Estates (2elders), Penkwase (4elders, including gagne) then us fiapre. No everyone doesnt some together for church but the church is brand new here and we only have like 115 members in the district (4 branches). its so weird to me cause ive been in two wards so far and now im here in the village with these tiny branches. yes im with sisters again. haha the work here is really slow and difficult at least for our area cause not gonna lie... we r in a legit village. haha its pretty sweet. thats why i say its like i expected my mission in ghana to be. our apartment though is unbelievably nice though. i have been in two crappy ones so now im enjoying. its also the chapel. we even have a/c! so yeah its a village so its hard to find people who speak english. ha so we r doing it!
we have zone council once a month in kumasi. we will be going down tomoorow and stay there and come back
wed. yeah the thaynes were here but they left for home today. they r really awesome and we r really going to suffer without them up here we r all alone now. u could go to their homecoming this coming sun i think. they live by alta high. the pic (if it works ) is of everyones baptisms on sun. Sunday we did baptize an awesome kid, stephen. he will be the first deacon in our branch!
ok so for the week. i dont really have a day to day thing like i usually do but i have some few things. ok so the ride up to Sunyani was prob the worst thing ever on a big crappy bus with no a/c and no room and ah! not looking forward to riding it again tomorrow. it was a 3 hr ride of that from kumasi till we got to sunyani. there was a guy yelling and preaching on the bus and so me elder gagne and reid (all got transfered to sunyani) busted out the hymns and that shut him up pretty quick. then i got to my new area and appt. the area like i said is a straight village and the appt/meeting house is da bomb! awesome tile floors huge kitchen and everything! We dont really have alot of people to teach so we mostly just go around and be friendly but hopefully we can get things
rollin cause this place also needs alot of help as u can imagine.
we did baptize a kid sun and were supposed to have 1 more lady but she ran away sun morning... we met with the branch pres thurs and basically i got called as the branch 2nd counselor and "sunday school" pres all at the same time my first day there. our branch pres is usually not even there on sundays cause he goes to school in kumasi so the elders (me and larsen) do EVERYTHING! haha sunday was a shocker. we had 10 people there when church first started and by the end we had around 20... haha yeah. Larsen had to conduct, then we had to bless the sacrament, then i had to give like a 20 min talk, and then i had to teach the inv/sunday school class 2nd and final hour. haha our church is only from 9-11. so yeah this place is gonna be totally different but i love it so much already and elder larsen and me r going to enjoy and do some serious work! its awesome to literally
establish the church in an area. we r building the branch here and every person matters and is important. i hope we can get it going to where we can have poeple with callings and such. we have a few kids in primary and yw's and ym's and some people as the primary and yw's pres and elder larsen is the ym's pres.
dont worry about me though cause this is where i belong! the people here are also so awesome and friendly and not busy and grumpy like the people in kumasi. i am really going to enjoy and im so excited! this is africa and im a missionary here! i can already feel a bond with the missionaries and people and members here and i already know its going to suck to leave! we do have some few sweet inv's so i hope we can get them going for bapt. we have one with a b date on feb. 24th, and one with a b. date mar. 10th and then the lady who ran away. its cool also cause there arent really too many less actives. i think we have 30 members and we had like 20 at church so we r doing well! love u guys and thanks for everything! oh and just a pre warning... i dont see skype on mothers day happening... at all. haha
love,
Elder Slade
