Alright so for my week, it turned out to be all 4 of our last weeks together. ya crazy stuff ill explain later. So on tuesday at district meeting elder smith instructed on patterns in our life and how the gospel is a pattern and such. We then went and had a sweet lesson with alfred who was doing awesome until he failed us on friday and didnt come to church on sunday! we also saw dorcas, and it turns out that she might be more difficult than we thought... ha she has the attention span of like a 3 yr old, chancho! ha
On wednesday we had a pretty sweet day. we all had zone conference combined with bantama zone. It lasted until like 4 o clock, and president instructed like 3 times and the aps instructed and sis. holmes instructed and we did lots of demonstratiing and practicing. we also had an amazing meal. i love being treated like we r special for once! That evening when we got home we had a meeting with bishop, just like all the other meetings, no one is helping bishop is feeling like hes doing everything himself, we feel like he needs to do alot more, blah blah blah.
On thursday (this is the sweet story with priscilla) after weekly planning our first lesson was with priscilla. it wasnt really a special lesson or anything, but towards the end i was just thinking like this is the last time im gonna teach her prob and i dont wanna leave it like this. (we also had been instructed on being bold at zone conference) So i was like screw this and i decided i would invite her to be baptized. I was freakin out scared, but the lord gave me strength! haha it was so awesome, cause the whole lesson the spirit wasnt there too much, but right when i was just bold and asked the spirit flooded in and it was sweet! ha she accepted and we were even able to give her a baptisimal date for sept 16th! We made sure she comitted to do everything she possibly could to find out if this stuff is true or not. we basically told her that by that date she needs to know if this church is true or not. the only problem is her and her husband! they r frustrating! She didnt even come to church this sunday cause her and her husband were mad at each other, and she wouldnt even tell him she has a b. date. so that is pretty much gonna be the huge stumbling block! she has shown her comittment though, and she was shocked when i just put it to her like that! ha it was sweet. so thats my lesson that i always need to be bold!
ok so the pics before i forget... the first one is our whole district/zone. 2nd one is us hitching a ride in the back of a truck on the way back from futbol in abuakwa. 3rd one is me stirring banku! we then had a lesson with dorcas, the restoration and gave her a baptisimal date for the 16th as well. Our last lesson was with ellen. our 14 yr old child of record basically.
On friday we had an awesome lesson with bb. we taught her the first part of the plan of salvation. she asked a ton of good questions like "when i move to somewhere far away from the church what do i do?" basically all we could tell her is that we dunno, but as long as she is faithful and such the lord will provide a way. She also told us that she doesnt normally like evangelists like jehovah witness and stuff, but when we first came she felt prompted to give us a chair and let us discuss. We then went and met with a member bro tony. he is powerful! He has been a member here since 1986, so he is one of the pioneers! ha he said he wants us to come every friday and he'll have people for us to teach! hopefully it will happen ha We then had an awesome lesson with an inactive member, silvia. it was such a good lesson and totally by the spirit. we werent even planning on seeing her. but we were able to find out her problems and reasons about not coming, and then resolve them and she actully came sunday and promised to keep coming! it was such a sweet experience! its almost just as rewarding bringing someone who has fallen away from the church as it is to bring someone new into it. We then ate delicious rice and stew a tthe okai's that night.
ok so starting saturday stuff got crazy! haha In the morning we went to abuakwa to play futbol, and guess who scored their first goal since being in ghana?! ya thats right me! haha it was sweet cause it was right at the end and it was for the tie! After, we went and bought a big chicken to kill and eat that night in celebration for elder smiths going home. we brought it home and killed it (have the sweet graphic video of it on my camera) and left it with a member to prepare while we went and bought the other stuff to make kabobs. We then came back and made kabobs. transfer news then came! im going to UST to be with elder Dolo. i guess itll be sweet. the only part that makes me nervous is that its just us two in the apartment and area. ha just me and some african dude chillin in the middle of the jungle with only one thing in the world in common, ha to bring people into christ! i guess that is all that matters though it should be quite interesting. wish me luck and pray extra hard for me!
Everyone is getting transfered and areas were whitewashed left and right. Its super hard to revive an area after it has been whitewashed and all the previous companionships work and effort is pretty much gone and u have to learn the area and blah. he did that to like 12 areas! and i think there is only 2 companionships that didnt change in the entire mission! He has already started opening new areas too. crazy crazy. We then played our last card game of presidents that night as an apartment.
Sunday pretty much sucked. Just a day full of goodbyes. it was way harder to say goodbye to the ward and everyone than i thought. ha it sucked and everyone was really sad. i guess its always hard to leave ur first area elder smith and nathan said. it was just hard being up there bearing my testimony and looking into the eyes of those who i helped bring into the gospel and those who looked after me and took care of me. oh well, thats mission right?! ha we then came home and the ap's came and took elder smith away, which also sucked and we were just depressed for the rest of the day! so yeah thats it. love u all!
Love, Elder Slade
