Wow that is so weird to hear about u guys going to elder hatchs homecoming. haha i mean its awesome u went, but just the thought of it capped off by the picture with him and chancho is just surreal. ha So for the nativity set... the guy is a snake, but i guess if u really want it i can get them. I would send them home with elder smith so u would have to go all the way to morgan to get them. let me know. Also i will be with my companion 9 more weeks. total of 15. ha at least. loooong time! ha for the pic with dad and his tie, i didnt get it so maybe u could send it again.
Charles and cynthia are doing good. busy busy. ha they usually meet us after midweek at the church on wednesdays but its been rainy the last couple wednesdays (everything just shuts down when it rains.) so we havent been able to see them except for at church. Sunday they were like u guys have to come soon we miss u! ha so they told us they would come to midweek this week for sure. Our investigators are ok. sonny and dickson havent made a comeback as strong as we first thought so idk whats going to happen with them. its hard for me to let them go though! ha No idk the mensah dude. YEs hatchs washing machine is still here and hopefully the mission splits before it gets taken to cape coast cause hatch promised it to another elder in cape, but if they cant get it to him then its mine! ha K i say his name every week in my letters so u should know how to at least spell it.... ha Elder Evbuomwam and i just talk about stuff. ha idk nothing in specific. girls, home, etc. No i havent got any packages yet. hopefully tomorrow. pres shulz is coming up to say goodbye to everyone in kumasi so ill get mail then.
OK so for our week. On tuesday it was us plus elder smith cause he had no companion until wed. So we went about the day as usual just with an extra person. We first went to the most stubborn girl ive ever met. she is a members daughter. Aboajewah. We actually had a good lesson with her and i would say we had somehow of a breakthrough. we were able to get her to open up a little and see us as human beings just like her. ha I also made no bake cookies that morning and wow... ha i havent had anything that good in a looong time! ha Later we met with gloria and taught her the sabbath day and tithes and offerings. it went well and she accepted them both. we made sure she understood them very good cause they are important.
On wednesday it was transfer day so not a lot happened. Elder Sharma was with us all day cause he was waiting for his companion. We gave some of elder hatchs clothes and stuff that he left to the innactive guy that we met the other day who lost everything in a fire. he was very grateful and was at church on sunday even! in his new clothes! ha We also had a lesson with sonny. it was good, but it just seems like he has alot of deep concerns and questions. we do our best to answerr them but eventually it all comes down to him and his faith and stuff.
Thursday our first appointment was with rhoda. It went well, although we couldnt teach all that we would of like to cause she had to finish doing some stuff first. We then had a lesson with aboajewah. Ugh... ha it was a step back it felt like, and she was back to her old stubborn ways. its so dang frustrating! we then met with one of our rc's hannah. We taught her about the temple then after she brought up a concern about the sabbath day. i already knew they didnt have money. hannah has to work all the time to provide for her mom and siblings, but i didnt know they were struggling as bad as they were. it freakin tore me up honestly. i truly have love for these people. (most of the time) ha But hannah has been missing church alot lately so we confronted her about it and apparently they usually run out of money when the weekend comes, so she tries to go around and find food or money to get food for her family on sunday so they can eat until she gets paid again for the next few days. I was like wow... We promised her that if she took this concern to god that he would take care of her if she was faithful in keeping the commitments she had made at baptism which include going to church and keeping the sabbath day holy. Oh and i also got covered in mud when a huge truck just went barreling through a mud puddle right next to me. so that was fun to walk around like that the rest of the day. haha
For friday we first met with ernest who told us his friend had a vision or something that none of the churches on earth were true so we were like ugh great... it didnt seem to phase him too much though. A little later his jehovah witness friend showed up and ernest kept trying to get us to argue with each other. haha he is a funny guy. We then met with rhoda again and talked to her about repentance. it was a sweet lesson and she is keeping her commitments very well. We then went to go see kwabena and hoped for his family to join us in watching the restoration dvd. none of his kids wanted to so we just watched it with his wife and him. Hopefully they see how the gospel is blessing him and follow. we then headed to the church to wait for Sonny, for 2 hrs! he never showed. ugh...
Saturday we had a sweet service project that elder evbuomwam and i set us up with. we weeded these peoples casava farm. Yes with cutlesses haha and no we didnt come across any sweet snakes this time. That night we then went to eat at the okais for banku. on our way we saw a monkey! it was freakin sweet! ha these kids had it as a pet and were playing with it and stuff.
Sunday we were very surprised to see ernest at church again and then the biggest surprise of all... aboajewah! ha we almost peed! it was crazy! she didnt act like she enjoyed it, but i think she was just acting like that. ha Shes like brooke ;) haha jk jk. After church it just rained the whole day and we were stuck at rhodas for most of that time. we had a really good lesson with her and finally gave her a b date which she is pumped about! july 8th. oh and gloria diodnt come to church so we are going to have to put her b date back to july 8th as well :(. But yeah thats all for me.
love u guys!
Love, Elder Slade
p.s. Happy fathers day to dad! and also i am going to need a new journal soon so yeah... thanks :)
