Wow, 1st week in the field! 2/13/2012

Once again so good to here from everyone! It has been a good and bad transition. haha the bad is that we don't have hot water! Cold showers always... if we even have water. The last two days we haven't and we have to take sachet showers. Sachets are little packets of water. sooo fun to take a shower with especially out of the fridge. ha My area is the Asuoyeboa area. It is a pretty big area, and is unfortunately about five or six miles from our apartment... so we get to walk 5 miles there and back everyday! not even counting all the walking we do there.

Our apartment is really big and has a washroom and 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.  My companion is Elder Gagne. He is pretty awesome and is really excited about the work he has only been out 3 months. IT is pronounced Gayne' italian or somethin. Right now i am in town which is awesome cause i have been starving cause i don't have food at the apartment yet.  But the food here is really good. I don't think i need any more food from home just yet.  We have a few other things living with us in the apartment like lizards and cockroaches, which is just dandy. I got grandmas package today.  I want a bunch of letters every week! Which should be possible with our big fam and all my friends, so get on that!

We have been extremely busy this week, and we have 5 baptisms set for Sunday!!!! yeah baby thats right 5! apparently they fall through alot though so we'll see, but they seem solid. We have about 20 other investigators we're working with as well. You can pretty much talk to everyone cause they all wanna talk to a brunei.  They just aren't serious most of the time. everyone is way friendly though.

We are about 4 hours north of Cape Coast by the way. Oh and fyi send all packages in those big flat rate envelope things, tell everyone that. cause its free for me and only cost like 14 for you. if u cant fit it all in one just send more cause its way better for me. I want lots of letters though every week dangit! haha  It was cool meeting our mission pres. he is an awesome guy and his wife is awesome too. He is just WAY strict which is good for me i guess... haha.   Yes I want rogaine. also Gatorade powder, handkerchiefs (not white like checkered or something, a couple white shirts cause some of mine got jacked in the mtc.

The people we're baptizing on Sunday are Kader and Selina (if they get married before then), James (who is freakin awesome he lives in the tiniest house ever and we can barely all fit in it to teach him, and he has nothing but still always feeds us and gives us minerals, (soda) even though he has nothing.), Frank who is always working but is really awesome and strong, hopefully he can get work off this Sun, then we have Janet who was coming to church forever but they didn't know she wasn't a member until just recently. haha She speaks little english. mostly twi. which i am picking up at a rapid pace by the way! :)

By the sounds of it when the mission is split i will prob be in the kumasi mission instead of cape coast which is kinda a bummer cause cape coast is cooler but its cool i guess. The weather was cooler but now it is really warming up big time! I also did my laundry by hand today for the first time which wasn't too bad it just takes forever but my stuff is all new and not too dirty yet... Chancho! I miss him sooo much!

So it is nothing like i imagined it would be here.  I mean its not like village but it pretty much is, if that makes sense. haha The sewers run down the road in a gutter. There are animals roaming around all over too.  My fav food so far is this fried rice stuff i had today, it was unreal! It has fish beef and sausage then this cole slaw stuff with this really good dressing all one a bunch of rice served with a chicken leg. Soooo good! I haven't tried fufu yet but i guess its super hard to eat at first and elder hansen had it the other day for the first time and gagged and then spewed it everywhere. haha so hopefully that doesnt happen to me. you cant chew it or that happens. hmmm what else... tell grandma i got her package and thanks so much! i havent opened it yet but im sure its great. just remember to have everyone send stuff in those ups flat rate envelopes there is some pretty decent sized ones.

The kids here are way cute and i love them! they all love the white guys and come up to you and try to pinch your skin off to see if its real. haha and they climb and hug all over you its awesome! Even the people that don't wanna hear our message are still really nice. Some kids when they see us cry though cause they have never seen a white person. haha There is nothing nice here though like america. no ac or anything anywhere. Oh and no Milk!!!! not even goat milk!  the food i miss the most is ceral and milk, or cookies and milk, mostly just anything with milk. Well i think that is pretty much it. i liked you putting the questions at the end of the email, that is better. Oh Nick took my gecko forever ago right? hopefully.  Its so good to hear that everyone is doing great and i appreciate everyones prayers!  I found all the hidden letters too fyi and i will open them tonight! I know they say open 1st week and 2nd but i didn't know they were there then so ya ill open them tonight. LOVE YOU ALL SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!  It sucks that i had to say goodbye to elder hopkins and miller but hopefully i will see them on the plane in 23 months. Peace!
