Hey everyone,
So i made it here. Barely.... I was so sick the entire time I was traveling! I barely ate anything for like two and a half days. Ever since I left. The plane ride was very long and uncomfortable. When we landed in Ghana it was very hot and sooooo humid! I was just kinda like oh no... We found the person who was supposed to pick us up and we followed him to the van. Oh yeah last time i called mom in Atlanta I know I was very upset and scared because I thought that I was going to have to go to Ghana by myself and no other Elders. About half an hour before our flight left from Atlanta six Elders showed up from flying in from the Salt lake airport. Apparently their flight was at like 2 or something and they all flew out of salt lake together. Don't ask me why i was by myself, just my dang luck i guess. At least they were able to come and i didn't have to fly in by myself because the Accra airport was very scary to say the least... haha lots of people yelling at you and you cant understand them. When we got to the Mtc i still felt very sick and i threw up the second we got out of the van. That was pretty fun, and for the first day here i was known as the white boy who everyone saw throwing up! Fun fun. Once again just awesome luck. haha no im just messing, i will have a better attitude! That first night was awful to say the least. Whoever told mom the Mtc had a/c was lying... Our rooms are on the top floor too which makes it even hotter. So the first night i was still feeling very sick and i was laying in bed and i couldn't even breath because it was so hot and humid, let alone go to sleep... I spent the majority of the night pacing the hall miserable using a spray bottle to spray on my face to try and cool me down. It didn't do much because there is no cold water here, yay... haha I wanted to come home so bad that first night and i seriously thought about it. Finally about three am i got to sleep for a couple hours, and the next day i was wasted but i felt better and alot more positive. Breakfast was really good, we had this sausage stuff and crepe things and bread. The bread here is really fluffly and it is unrreal! I also ate a fish head. Which was cool i guess. I didn't know how to eat it so i just ate a whole bunch of bones. The food is pretty different and hopefully i can grow to enjoy it. My companion, Elder Borstie is really awesome! All of the african people here are so strong in the gospel and they know so much! I feel a little inadequate. We teach our first investigators on monday and apparently it is pretty intense. I have been doing much better since the first day and i know 2 years is forever but i think i can do it! haha i pretty much love it here in Ghana now and hopefully it stays that way when i go out into the field. My companion is actually from Ghana and he will be serving in the Nigeria something mission. HE has been telling me all about his home wimmepa or something like that, and he is very excited for me to go there and he says trhat i will love it! i am beginning to see how little these people have. Most of them don't know how to use the microwaves, or computers and they all want to be in every picture because it is so new to them and they love seeing their picture on the screen as you will hopefully get to see if i can attach my pictures. I hope you are all doing good and keep praying for me! I am growing spiritually alot in the MTC and i have had the spirit this whole time. It has been an awesome experience.
Love you all so much!
Elder Slade
